Tools are great, but often people can make extensions for the tools to make them infinitely more useful. Here are the best of the best that I use for applications that I use often.
Visual Studio 2012
- CodeMaid
- Helps you navigate your code and gives you some analytic information about it.
- Hide Main Menu
- Does what it says. Pressing Alt still displays the menu, but frees up more space on your UI.
- Microsoft Web Developer Tools
- Self explanatory.
- MultiEditing
- Excellent feature that allows you to press/hold "Alt", then click on multiple places in you file, and then start typing. It is like being able to type in multiple places at once.
- NuGet Package Manager
- Just awesome
- Productivity Power Tools 2012
- Awesome features that didn't quite make the release build for Visual Studio, but added later as an extension. Just install it.
- Team Foundation Service Power Tools 2012
- Useful if you need to use TFS.
- Visual Studio 2012 Photo Start Page
- I don't normally like splashing things and may (probably) uninstall it in the future, but it is nice to have a nice picture display when you open Visual Studio.
- Visual Studio Extensions for Windows Library for JavaScript
- Adds functionality to make JavaScript development feel more like C# development.
- VSCommands for Visual Studio 2012
- A slew of features that extend the overall functionality to the Visual Studio UI.
- Web Essentials 2012
- Adds much needed functionality that make working with CSS and JavaScript files much easier.
